Susan Heaven (b. 1956-), Commercial Arts and Sign Painting, Detroit Lakes Technical School, 1975; B.A., Fashion Design, Stout University, 1990; The Atelier School of Fine Art Instruction, 2003.

After ten years as a fashion designer, Susan Heaven attended a four week workshop at the Atelier School of Fine Art Instruction in order to pursue her life long dream of painting like the old masters.  That workshop led to her attendance at the Atelier on a full-time program basis, completing a fifth year there doing imaginary work.  Since completing her classical training she has been working in her studio in Hudson Wisconsin, with her husband Fred Bechtold who is also a classically trained painter.  Using oil she creates paintings that are reflective of her life and thoughts by way of still lives, landscapes, waterscapes and imaginary works.  Susan is an artist who absolutely loves to paint and who is working toward that dream of a lifetime’s body of work.  Long live the painter
